Our Commitment

NDB implements its responsible sourcing policy and conforms to the OECD due diligence guidance for responsible supply chains of minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas, enabling us to ensure our commitment to an accountable and transparent supply chain.

Supplier Expectations

NDB expects its suppliers to comply with its Responsible Sourcing Policy. We use reasonable efforts to seek this commitment from our suppliers by integration of the Responsible Supply-chain Policy and the Supplier Code of Conduct into our supplier agreements.

Risk Categories We Address

Serious Abuses

NDB will not tolerate or profit from torture, forced labor, child labor, human rights violations, war crimes, crimes against humanity, or genocide associated with material extraction, transport, or trade.

Support to Armed Groups

We will not knowingly tolerate any direct or indirect support to non-state armed groups through our supply chain.

Security Forces

NDB commits to eliminate direct or indirect support to public or private security forces that may be involved in human rights abuses.

Bribery and Fraud

We will not offer, promise, give or demand bribes, and will resist solicitation of bribes to conceal or disguise the origin of minerals or misrepresent taxes and fees.

Money Laundering

NDB supports efforts to contribute to the effective elimination of money laundering throughout our supply chain.

Standards

Supplier Code of Conduct

NDB requires from its suppliers the implementation of this Supplier Code of Conduct to ensure the respect of human rights and dignity in a safe working environment, the respect of the environment, and the promotion of an inclusive and ethical business culture, per the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions.

Prohibition of Forced Labor

Suppliers shall not force labor on workers against their will. Workers must maintain possession of their identity documents and have freedom of movement and the right to resign.

Prohibition of Child Labor

Suppliers shall not recourse to child labor. Workers under 18 shall not perform work that compromises their health and safety or be required to work overtime or at night.

Prohibition of Excessive Overtime

Total working hours per week shall not exceed local law standards or 60 hours, whichever is lowest. Workers must have at least one day off for every seven days.

Wages and Welfare

Suppliers shall pay wages over the statutory minimum wage and provide additional premiums for overtime/night work. Social insurance premiums must be paid faithfully.

Humane Treatment

Suppliers shall ensure workers are provided with an employment environment free from physical, sexual, psychological, verbal harassment, and other abusive conduct.

Prohibition of Discrimination

Suppliers shall not discriminate based on race, color, age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, disability, pregnancy, religion, political orientation, or nationality.

Freedom of Association

Suppliers shall respect workers' rights to organize, join unions, engage in collective bargaining and peaceful assembly without fear of retaliation.

Health and Safety

Suppliers shall actively assess and manage risks, protect health and safety of employees, and provide appropriate training and protective equipment.

NDB has implemented a comprehensive compliance activities management method and program led by a Compliance Officer who oversights activities and plans following national and international compliance standards.

Code of Conduct

NDB's Code of Conduct is one of the ways we apply NDB's values into practice. Our Code recognizes that every activity we perform will be, and should be, measured against the highest possible standards of ethical business conduct.

We expect all of our employees, Board members, and extended workforce to know and follow our Code of Conduct. Failure to do so can be sanctioned with disciplinary action, including termination of employment.
