Senior Semiconductor Engineer - SiC Device Fabrication
About this position
NDB is seeking a Senior Semiconductor Engineer with deep expertise in Silicon Carbide (SiC) device fabrication to lead the development of semiconductor components for our nano diamond battery technology. This role is critical to achieving efficient energy conversion and creating durable, high-performance power systems. You will design and fabricate SiC semiconductor devices, optimize fabrication processes for diamond integration, develop device characterization and testing protocols, and collaborate with materials scientists on substrate preparation. This position requires extensive cleanroom experience and expertise in wide bandgap semiconductors. Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor device fabrication
- Deep expertise in Silicon Carbide (SiC) device physics and fabrication
- Extensive cleanroom experience with semiconductor processing equipment
- Proficiency with device simulation tools (Sentaurus, Silvaco, COMSOL, etc.)
- Strong understanding of doping, ion implantation, etching, and metallization
- Experience with electrical characterization (I-V, C-V, Hall measurements)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Design and fabricate SiC semiconductor devices for energy conversion applications
- Optimize fabrication processes for diamond-SiC interface integration
- Develop and execute device characterization and reliability testing protocols
- Troubleshoot fabrication issues and implement process improvements
- Collaborate with materials scientists on substrate preparation and surface treatments
- Maintain and operate cleanroom equipment (sputtering, CVD, RIE, lithography)
- Document fabrication processes and create standard operating procedures
- Present technical findings to engineering team and executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with diamond or other wide bandgap semiconductors (GaN, AlN)
- Background in betavoltaic devices or energy conversion systems
- Expertise in SiC MOSFET, Schottky diode, or power device fabrication
- Familiarity with atomic layer deposition (ALD) or advanced thin film techniques
- Published research in semiconductor device physics or materials science
- Experience scaling processes from R&D to pilot production
