About this position

NDB Inc. seeks an Independent Board Director with exceptional regulatory and compliance expertise to guide our navigation of complex nuclear, environmental, and safety regulations. You will provide strategic oversight on regulatory strategy, compliance frameworks, and stakeholder relationships with government agencies. This unpaid board position offers equity compensation and the opportunity to ensure NDB maintains the highest standards of regulatory compliance while commercializing breakthrough nuclear energy technology.

Requirements

  • JD or equivalent with focus on regulatory, environmental, or nuclear law
  • Former General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, or senior regulatory executive
  • 20+ years of regulatory and compliance experience in highly regulated industries
  • Deep expertise with NRC, EPA, DOE, or similar regulatory agencies
  • Experience with nuclear licensing, environmental permits, or safety regulations
  • Prior board or board committee experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent judgment and ability to assess complex regulatory risks

Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in quarterly board meetings
  • Chair or serve on Nominating & Governance Committee
  • Provide strategic guidance on regulatory strategy and compliance framework
  • Oversee relationships with NRC, DOE, EPA, and other regulatory agencies
  • Review and assess regulatory risks and compliance programs
  • Ensure proper governance structure, policies, and ethical standards
  • Guide nuclear licensing strategy and environmental permitting processes
  • Advise on government relations and policy advocacy
  • Support executive team on complex regulatory matters and stakeholder engagement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Former NRC, EPA, or DOE senior official or Commissioner
  • General Counsel of nuclear utility, reactor vendor, or nuclear technology company
  • Experience with international nuclear regulations (IAEA, international agencies)
  • Congressional or legislative experience with energy or nuclear policy
  • Crisis management and regulatory investigation experience
