Independent Board Director - Energy Sector
About this position
NDB Inc. is seeking an accomplished Independent Board Director with deep expertise in the energy sector to provide strategic guidance and governance oversight. As a board member, you will leverage your extensive industry experience to help shape NDB's strategic direction, ensure sound corporate governance, and provide valuable connections within the energy industry. This is an unpaid position that offers equity compensation and the opportunity to be part of a revolutionary energy technology company. Board meetings are held quarterly with additional committee work as needed.
Requirements
- Former C-level executive (CEO, COO, CTO) in energy, utilities, or power generation
- 20+ years of energy industry experience with deep strategic and operational knowledge
- Prior public company board experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of energy markets, grid infrastructure, and regulatory landscape
- Extensive network within energy utilities, power generation, or renewable energy sectors
- Experience with energy technology commercialization and scaling
- Understanding of nuclear energy regulations and policy
- Strong financial acumen and governance experience
Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings
- Provide strategic counsel on energy market positioning and go-to-market strategy
- Leverage industry network to create partnership and customer opportunities
- Serve on board committees (Audit, Compensation, or Nominating & Governance)
- Review and approve major strategic decisions, budgets, and capital allocation
- Ensure proper corporate governance and fiduciary oversight
- Mentor and advise executive team on energy sector dynamics
- Support fundraising efforts through investor introductions and credibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or former board member of NYSE/NASDAQ listed energy company
- Experience with energy storage, battery technology, or distributed power
- Government or regulatory agency experience (DOE, FERC, state utilities commissions)
- International energy market experience
- Clean energy or sustainability expertise
