About this position
NDB seeks a Business Law & Compliance Intern to support legal affairs, regulatory compliance, and contract management for our nano diamond battery technology. This internship provides exposure to corporate law, nuclear regulations, intellectual property, and commercial contracts in an innovative clean energy startup. You will assist with legal research and regulatory compliance analysis, support contract review and documentation, help with intellectual property management, and participate in corporate governance activities. This position offers valuable experience for students pursuing careers in corporate law, regulatory affairs, or compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for law students or pre-law undergraduates to gain practical legal experience in the clean energy sector. You'll work on diverse legal matters supporting breakthrough nuclear technology commercialization.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing J.D., LL.M., or Bachelor's degree with pre-law focus
- Completed coursework in business law, contracts, or regulatory law
- Strong academic record (3.3+ GPA preferred)
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in document review
- Proficiency with legal research databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis) preferred
- Professional communication skills
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on nuclear regulations, energy law, and corporate matters
- Assist with contract review, redlining, and documentation
- Support compliance monitoring and regulatory filings
- Help maintain corporate records and governance documentation
- Research intellectual property law and patent regulations
- Assist with due diligence for business transactions
- Prepare summaries of legal documents and regulatory requirements
- Participate in legal team meetings and strategy discussions
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or externship at law firm or legal department
- Familiarity with nuclear regulations (NRC, DOE) or energy law
- Interest in technology law, regulatory affairs, or intellectual property
- Experience with contract management or commercial agreements
- Strong interest in clean energy and sustainability
- Availability for 3-6 month internship commitment
