About this position

NDB seeks a Senior CAD/CAM & Simulation Engineer to lead mechanical design and simulation efforts for our nano diamond battery technology. This role combines expertise in computer-aided design, manufacturing simulation, and multi-physics modeling to optimize product design and manufacturing processes. You will design mechanical components and assemblies using advanced CAD tools, conduct FEA and thermal simulations, develop CAM programs for precision manufacturing, and collaborate with manufacturing teams on design for manufacturability (DFM). This position requires expertise in CAD/CAM software, simulation tools, and precision engineering. This is an opportunity to apply advanced engineering design and simulation to revolutionary energy technology. You'll work at the intersection of mechanical design, thermal engineering, and manufacturing optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience with CAD design and engineering simulation
  • Expert proficiency with SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD software
  • Strong experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, etc.)
  • Proficiency with CAM software (Mastercam, HSMWorks, etc.) for CNC programming
  • Experience with thermal simulation and heat transfer analysis
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures for battery systems
  • Conduct FEA simulations (stress, thermal, vibration, fatigue analysis)
  • Develop thermal management solutions and validate with CFD simulations
  • Create CAM programs for precision CNC machining and manufacturing
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, and cost reduction
  • Generate engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with manufacturing team on tooling, fixtures, and process planning
  • Support prototype fabrication and testing validation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with micro-scale or precision mechanical systems
  • Background in thermal systems design (heat pipes, heat sinks, cooling systems)
  • Familiarity with semiconductor packaging or battery enclosure design
  • Expertise in topology optimization or generative design
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) design
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
