Lab Technician - Chemistry & Materials Testing
About this position
NDB is seeking a Lab Technician to support chemistry and materials testing for our nano diamond battery technology. This hands-on role involves conducting experiments, operating analytical instruments, preparing samples, and supporting chemists and materials scientists. You will prepare chemical solutions and material samples, operate analytical equipment (HPLC, GC, spectroscopy), conduct materials characterization and testing, and maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization. This position requires strong laboratory skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely with chemicals and materials. Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
- 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in chemistry or materials testing
- Proficiency with analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, etc.)
- Experience with sample preparation and wet chemistry techniques
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) precisely
- Basic computer skills for data entry and analysis
Responsibilities
- Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and material samples
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, etc.)
- Conduct materials characterization tests (density, hardness, composition)
- Perform routine quality control testing on materials and products
- Document experimental procedures and results accurately
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform basic troubleshooting
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance
- Support chemists and scientists with experimental setup and data collection
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with semiconductor materials or SiC characterization
- Familiarity with microscopy techniques (optical, SEM)
- Background in materials testing labs or quality control laboratories
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 or GLP laboratory standards
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems)
- Cleanroom experience or ability to work in controlled environments
