About this position

NDB is seeking a Laboratory Research Intern to support materials research and experimental testing for our nano diamond battery technology. This internship provides hands-on laboratory experience with materials characterization, chemical analysis, and experimental techniques in an innovative clean energy startup. You will assist with materials preparation and characterization experiments, support chemical analysis and laboratory testing, learn to operate analytical instruments, and help maintain laboratory organization and documentation. This position offers exposure to advanced materials science, analytical chemistry, and research methodologies. This is a great opportunity for students pursuing careers in chemistry, materials science, or research to gain practical laboratory skills. You'll work alongside experienced scientists on cutting-edge energy technology research.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
  • Completed laboratory coursework in chemistry or materials science
  • Strong academic record (3.0+ GPA preferred)
  • Basic laboratory skills and familiarity with lab safety
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to follow experimental procedures precisely
  • Good written communication for lab notebooks and reports
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on laboratory work

Responsibilities

  • Assist scientists with materials preparation and sample processing
  • Support laboratory experiments and data collection
  • Learn to operate analytical instruments (microscopes, spectroscopy, etc.)
  • Conduct chemical analyses and materials characterization tests
  • Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation
  • Help maintain laboratory cleanliness, safety, and organization
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and experimental setups
  • Assist with data analysis and presentation preparation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior laboratory or research experience
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques (XRD, SEM, FTIR, etc.)
  • Experience with data analysis software or programming
  • Coursework in materials characterization or analytical chemistry
  • Strong interest in materials science and clean energy
  • Availability for 3-6 month internship commitment
