About this position

NDB Inc. seeks an Independent Board Director with exceptional expertise in nuclear technology to provide strategic oversight and technical guidance. You will bring deep knowledge of nuclear engineering, radioisotope technology, reactor design, or nuclear fuel cycles to help guide NDB's technical strategy and ensure we maintain the highest standards of nuclear safety and regulatory compliance. This unpaid position offers equity compensation and the unique opportunity to contribute to breakthrough nuclear energy innovation.

Requirements

  • PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related field strongly preferred
  • Former senior executive or technical leader in nuclear industry (reactor design, fuel cycles, or radioisotope production)
  • 20+ years of nuclear technology experience including leadership roles
  • Deep understanding of NRC regulations, nuclear safety protocols, and licensing processes
  • Prior experience with DOE national laboratories, nuclear utilities, or nuclear vendors
  • Public company board experience preferred
  • Strong technical credibility within nuclear engineering community
  • Experience with nuclear innovation and advanced reactor technologies

Responsibilities

  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings
  • Provide technical oversight and strategic guidance on nuclear technology development
  • Review and assess technical risks, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance
  • Advise on small modular reactor design, radioisotope production, and nuclear fuel strategy
  • Leverage relationships with NRC, DOE, and nuclear industry for regulatory success
  • Serve on board committees with focus on technology and risk oversight
  • Ensure company maintains highest nuclear safety and quality standards
  • Support technical due diligence for partnerships and investments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Former NRC Commissioner or senior DOE official
  • Current or former board member of nuclear technology company
  • Published author or recognized expert in nuclear engineering
  • Experience with advanced reactor designs (SMR, microreactors, Gen IV)
  • International nuclear regulatory experience (IAEA, international agencies)
